In recent years we have all witnessed the emergence of Medtail. Healthcare companies saw an excellent opportunity to experiment with a new model of real estate and reap the benefits that come with it—convenient access for patients and heightened awareness of their clinics through co-tenancy and traffic generated from retail anchors. Concurrently, retailers want to be in (or near) centers with 100% occupancy and surrounded by brands with national brand recognition. As things stand today, healthcare and retail real estate will be intertwined for years to come.
